Well it’s a piece o’ software that offers data protection and disastery recover fur yir VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V environments. Whit?? It means that if ye have a wee problem wi yir VMs, then Veeam’s goat yir back. Nae bother !

Afore ye install Veeam Backup & Replication, ye hae tae mak sure that yer virtual environment and machines thit ye whant tae yaise as yir bit n pieces fir yir backup infrastructure components haye tae meet the richt hardware an’ software requirements. Ye cannae jist yaise any auld bits of tin or software.
Backup Infrastructure
Veeam Backup & Replication is made up o’ different components, that let ye mak up yer backup infrastructure ony whye ye see fit, so it’s scalable …kin whit ah mean?
Backup Server
This peece hiz tae be installed on a Windaes servers, it kin be physical or virtual, up to you really. It’s the big man o the infrastructure as it is the ‘configuration and control center. It does aw kinds of hings, like:

Backup & Replication Console
This wee program sits on yer client and gies ye access tae yer backup server.
Backup Proxy
This is the muscles o the backups, it taks the data fi yer production storage and gies it a bit of a kicking (compressing,deduplicating,encrypting) afore spitting it oot ontae yer backup repository
Backup Repository
Think o’ the backup repository as yer drinks cabinet, whaur yer store aw yer booze, instead o’ booze it’s yer backup files.
